Glenda Cinquegrana Art Consulting is glad to present a homage to Alberto Garutti (1948-2023), a nationally and internationally renowned figure in the field of art, who recently passed away. As a scholar and a researcher, he studied the relationship between the client and the work of art, among public art, citizens, and institutions. Located in the main hall of the gallery, the project room presents a significant core of works, which have been lent by prestigious private collections in order to pay homage the artist together with a bird’s eye view on the width and depth on his research. What Happens in Rooms When the People Have Left? based on a series of works hints to, in a posteriori perspective, what remains of the work of an artist in time. The gallery presents some Orizzonti (Horizons), works displayed at the 1990 Venice Biennale, focusing on the thin thread connecting the artist and the collector/client; three works from the series What Happens in Rooms When the People Have Left?, which, originally conceived for an exhibition at PAC in Milan, were exposed at the Institute for Italian Culture in Madrid; finally Tutti i passi che ho fatto nella mia vita mi hanno portato qui, ora (Every step I have taken in my life has led me here, now) realized for Malpensa Airport in Milan. Through this core of significant works, the project room intends to honour the memory of this artist and give insight on the body of works that Garutti built in forty years of research on the ever-changing and challenging relationship the work of art entertains with the public.
