I enjoy creating art, that is where I find my peace and freedom”. (Mamus Esiebo)

Glenda Cinquegrana Art Consulting is pleased to announce an OVR dedicated to Nigerian artist Mamus Esiebo, that will take place on Artsy from Oct 26th to November 12th, 2022. The online show features a series of new prints alongside a painting.

Mamus Esiebo is a self-taught visual artist from Lagos, Nigeria. He studied graphic design at City Unity College. Mamus depicts daily big city life in Lagos, Nigeria, where the black community has reached a high life standard, in big family homes with huge living rooms, fully equipped of books and tv sets, an outside pool where kids can play, and parents can drink on the lawn.

His main issues are parts of daily life, such as the lack of work-life balance, the new family expectations, and the pursuit of a strong sense of identity inside the community. In his urban vision clothing, cars, and other accessories are seen as self-identification tools of a community progressively gaining power and freedom incarnating into an idyllic middle-class life. In his figuration, the color plays a key role, and the geometric pattern created by colors overlap, to create often peaceful and often imaginative scenarios in which real and surreal perfectly merge.
