Glenda Cinquegrana Art Consulting is glad to present the solo show dedicated to Italian artist born in Bergamo in 1996, Chiara Gambirasio. The title of the show is Vedere Dentro/Looking Inside. Fresh from her exhibition at the Museo del Novecento, Florence, curated by Sergio Risaliti, the artist aims to further explore the contents used for the Florentine exhibition, with site-specific works of art, specially created for the rooms of the gallery.

Gambirasio’s research relies on the concept of Kenoscromìa, which brings together the Greek words “kenos”, void, and “kromìa”, colour. This can be explained as a word which tries to describe the vibration of living things, which reaches our eyes through the incessant change in matter. This vital movement is the image of a metaphysical and physical power we call void.

As Gabi Scarbi, the curator of the exhibition points out void is interpreted by Gambirasio as the space of possibilities and colour experienced as a means to intuitions and as the equivalent to a subjective vision of the world. Both these entities, void and colour, are perceived by the artist as the access key to the dimensions of everyday life exceeding what is Immediately perceivable. These dimensions can be found both in the micro (very small) and in the macro (very vast) world, both in the inner space and the cosmos.

Vedere dentro/Looking Inside focuses on Cosmi in vasi, open receptacles, the bottom of which is a luminous passage, a gate from which one can set out on a journey in depth, Gabi Scardi says. The mysterious feature of these works is that each cosmos is the keeper of a stock of space, light and colour. Their inside opens up, grows lively, dilates in unrepeatable ways.

For this show, the invitation from the artist to the viewer is to enter and enjoy the quiet and unknown dimension beneath our feet. At the entrance of the gallery, the first work one can see is a pendulum, which points to an oblique direction of downward tension; a series of works on paper represent the underground ramification that changes its meaning according to the colour that fills the void. Finally, the chalk slates with metamorphic hybrids and winged animals express the ability to experience that very condition which the artist has sought at length. The show tells us about a continu

ous mutation where nothing is the same as itself. If as Gambirasio states, the dimension of void is the only and necessary one for life to manifest itself […]; dwelling the void means to stop time and hover over things.
