Things ain’t what they use to be is a solo online exclusive show featuring works by Silva Idili. As the artist production is pretty limited in the number of exemplars, the show is displaying a little group of new paintings alongside some works dated back to the most recent years of the Italian painter’s production.

The title of the show is a reference to the strangeness, which is one of the main features of Silvia Idili’s painting, merging the Surreal language of the Italian Metafisica tradition to her own original Sardinian background for creating a new language in contemporary painting.
Silvia Idili’s Visionaries series tell a fascinating story of a feminity that conjures up a hidden mystery of a world in which nothing seems to be consequential.

Idili explains that these origami-like additions featured in The Visionaries “are the symbol of infrastructures created by the mind to hide and mask the true nature of one’s being, which is at the same time an expression of a spiritual tension in relation to the anxiety of the contemporary.”
