Online exclusive show taking place on our Artsy page
Things ain’t what they use to be is a solo online exclusive show featuring works by Silvia Idili. As the artist production is pretty limited in the number of exemplars, this show is displaying a small group of new paintings alongside a collection of works dating back to the most recent years.
The title of the show is a reference to the strangeness, which is one of the main features of Silvia Idili’s painting, merging the Surreal language of the Italian ‘Metafisica’ by De Chirico tradition to her own original Sardinian background in order to create a new language.
Silvia Idili’s Visionaries series tell a fascinating story of a feminity conjuring up the hidden mystery of a world in which nothing seems to be consequential.
Idili explains that these origami-like additions featured in The Visionaries “are the symbol of infrastructures created by the mind to hide and mask the true nature of one’s being, which is at the same time an expression of a spiritual tension in relation to the anxiety of the contemporary.”
You can read the latest reviews on her work published on:
