Glenda Cinquegrana Art Consulting is proud to announce its participation to MIA Photo Fair 2017, the international fair devoted to photography and moving image, which will take place in The Mall, Milan from March 10th to 13th, 2017.
Our booth features an exhibition project devoted to Black & White photography: the three presented photographers, Gabriele Croppi, Mario Cucchi and Ivano Zanchetta, who have made of the black and white a specific choice of style and originality within their researches.
During his career, Gabriele Croppi has made of black and white the stylistic choice of his photographic work, that deserved him many international prizes and honourable mentions. We are presenting a selection of his works from the series Metaphysics of the Urban Landscape, in which the black and white become tools for emphasizing the metaphysics dimension of the landscape, that seems to be at the same time ambiguous but also convincing.
We are also featuring Mario Cucchi, whose black and white choice is employed for identifying an analytic project on the everyday objects, under the title of Six Thoughts of the Same Thing. The black and white is the product of a savvy use of light, that is capable to give new and unseen semantic meanings to a list of common use things. Evidently taking inspiration from the historical and contemporary photographic Surrealism, in Cucchi’s research the black and white covers the role of creating visual parallelisms to a pioneering photographic era still perceived as a live source of inspiration; nevertheless, it also a tool for creating a strong unity sense in a project composed of large number of shots.
Ivano Zanchetta has also made of the black and white a stylistic choice in a photographic work that, included in the realm of landscape photography, is focusing on evoking emotions and creating deeply poetic atmospheres. His photographs keep constantly an open dialogue with the masters of the genre, such as Mimmo Jodice and Micheal Kenna. Zanchetta has marked his style with technical artisanry and longtime waiting exposures. Also, the minimalist elements of nature and architectures represent his own tools to create a poetic vision of nature. A product of the use of traditional mediums, the deep saturation of the black colour is the tool for building up a real poetry of the vision, rather than a poetic vision.
